The product

The FT-Flume is a precast open channel for storm water drains, power ducts and road crossings — laid as a replacement of pipe culverts. Each 2 m unit is cast, cured and tested in our Surat yard, then set on a prepared bed and jointed in line.

With heights from 900 mm to 1800 mm and widths from 600 mm to 2000 mm, the section is matched to the flow or the services it has to carry, and its smooth bore keeps water moving and silt from settling.

Why precast

A pipe culvert or an in-situ channel means formwork, curing time and a long open cut. A precast flume arrives finished, sets on a levelled bed and is jointed as it goes — a sealed, smooth channel with far less time on site.

Where it's used

It carries storm water drains, power ducts and road crossings — and replaces pipe culverts wherever an open precast channel is the better fit.

A finished channel, set on a prepared bed — not a trench waiting to be poured.
— Applications

Where it goes to work

Storm water drains Power ducts Road crossings Pipe culvert replacement
— Why it holds up

Open channel, finished in the yard.

A precast flume sized to the flow — for storm water, power ducts and road crossings.
01

Fast, even flow

The open section keeps storm water moving cleanly along the line.

02

Silt-free bore

A smooth precast finish stops silt settling and choking the flow.

03

Replaces pipe culverts

A wide open section in place of a pipe culvert — for storm water, power ducts and road crossings.

— FAQ

About the FT-Flume.

Common questions on capacity, sizing and laying. For anything project-specific, send us your drawing.

01What is the FT-Flume used for?

Storm water drains, power ducts and road crossings, as a replacement of pipe culverts. It is laid as an open precast channel in 2 m lengths.

02What load and grade is it designed for?

High-performance concrete from M50 to M75, RCC reinforced, designed for a live load of 1 T/m² (10 kN/m²) as an open storm water drain, and cast to IS standards.

03What sizes are available?

Heights (H) from 900 mm to 1800 mm. Widths (B) run 600–1800 mm at H 900, 600–2000 mm at H 1000, and 800–2000 mm for H 1200 to 1800. B1, C and D vary with the chosen height and width.

04Why precast instead of an in-situ channel?

A sealed precast line with a hard, smooth bore resists the seepage and silting of an earthen or in-situ channel, and it arrives finished — no formwork or curing on site.

05How is it bedded and jointed?

It sits on a crushed stone foundation with levelling concrete and levelling mortar, with a filter sheet against the soil, excavation side slopes of about 1:0.5 or 1:0.3 and 300 mm working space each side. Units joint with a groove for joint.

06Can you cast a custom capacity?

Yes — customized sizes are available for mass quantity. Send a drawing with the section, length and capacity and we'll cast to your exact spec.
